Whiskey Barrels were the inspiration for this piece. "Cooperage" is the construction of conical vessels with wooden"staves".
Staves are more or less identical in form resulting in vessels that are uniform in appearance. I had the idea to try to construct a vessel or enclosed form in this case that would attempt to use staves of a more random or asymmetrical nature. The resulting light/shadow effect visible on both interior and exterior surfaces was an exciting discovery from the process. Private collection. $12,000
